Richard Guditus is currently in his 5th year of the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2019, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree with a mechanical focus. Richard is scheduled to take the FE exam before graduation with hopes of passing it and earning EIT status upon graduation. Outside of academics he is involved with THON, the largest student run philanthropy, which is committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. On top of the THON committees Richard was a part of, he also served as a mentor for the Engineering Orientation Network, was a member of ASHRAE, and was a member of SSAE. He participated in Intramural Soccer at Penn State in the fall and spring divisions each year.
In the summer of his Freshman and Sophomore years, Richard was a mechanical engineering intern at Highland Associates, a multidiscipline architecture, engineering, and interior design firm located in Clarks Summit, PA. At Highland Richard produced drawings for numerous projects using AutoCAD and Revit. The project and building types encompassed a diverse range of market segments including, healthcare, higher education, data centers, and commercial buildings. He was able to get hands on experience by having the opportunity to survey multiple job sites during his time at Highland. These experiences gave him a desire to pursue the mechanical option of the Architectural Engineering program.
During his last two summers, Richard has had the opportunity to intern at TriState HVAC Equipment LLP as an engineering sales intern. TriState is an equipment sales firm responsible for representing and integrating commercial HVAC mechanical systems and related equipment into building design. During his time at TriState Richard worked on different projects selecting and sizing mechanical equipment for engineering clientele and mechanical contractors. This opportunity gave Richard new insight on a different side of the building industry, further developing his skills as a future engineer. Richard is looking forward to future career opportunities in the building industry.
Richard will be moving to King of Prussia, PA after graduation to begin his career in the building industry. Richard has accepted a job as an inside sales engineer at H.C. Nye Company Inc. and will begin working out of their office in King of Prussia starting in June of 2019.
